Mini Review: Eclipse

July 8th, 2010 § Leave a Comment

This is the best of the series so far. I really appreciated the effects and action scenes since those were the ones that kept me awake! (Hey, it was late in the evening) Curiously, the “romantic” scenes made me laugh instead of making me swoon over Edward. If found it really cheesy! I guess the fanatic in me just died away. When Twilight first came out I was in love with Edward. But that phase has passed (thankfully) and I’ve seen the light! I am now officially Team Jacob! lol! Kidding aside, I still couldn’t get over the fact that a hundred year old immortal would be hopelessly devoted to a boring, plain, awkward teenager.

Anyhow, the story this time around focuses on the love triangle between Edward, Bella and Jacob. As the  outside threats draw in closer (the Volturi and Victoria’s newborn army), the Cullens  and  the Quiluetes must work together to protect the still mortal Bella Swan.

As usual, the acting range was very limited. Rob just kept pouting and furrowing his brows, Kristen still looks stoned and Taylor just distracted me each time he came up on screen without a shirt on. Dakota and the rest of the Volturi didn’t look sinister much, only bored.

I also don’t understand why there were lots of close up shots when everyone knows it will only magnify the layer upon layer of white makeup on the vampires. That made it look more fake! And why did the vampires crack when their heads got chopped off? I mean, I get that they’re cold and stone like, but did it have to be that literal? I thought you had to INCINERATE the bodies for them to die and not just merely dismembered?

Though there are obvious flaws in the movie and in the story itself, I quite enjoyed watching Eclipse. Just because I made fun of it doesn’t mean I didn’t like it. *lol* I give this movie 3 1/2 popcorns. :)

Awesome trailer with comments on MTV’s website!

Can’t get enough of Taylor Lautner’s fabulous abs! And I’m actually excited to see Dakota Fanning play the sadistic vampire Jane. :-)

Belated Happy Birthday Edward!

On June 20, 1901, Edward was born to Elizabeth and Edward (sr.) Masen.

Thank you Stephenie Meyer for creating this perfect character for females to swoon over. And thank you Robert Pattinson for making our fantasy come alive. ;)

Belated Happy Birthday Edward! Sorry I forgot to post this greeting yesterday. You don’t look a day over 17! *lol*

Twilight Again. and again.

January 26th, 2009 § 2 Comments

Nak ng tokwa! I’m watching Twilight again. I think that’s ten times already since the movie came out.shhh…

I think something is seriously wrong with me beause I still get goosebumps and go all school-girl giddy watching Edward waltzing to the cafeteria with the other Cullens and when he “introduces” himself (very politely) to Bella in Biology class! ” Hello..I’m sorry I didn’t get a chance to introduce myself last week…I’m Edward Cullen..you’re Bella.” And the she just goes..“Yes.” LOL! I guess I’d have trouble speaking too, if HE were to talk to ME! ” Gosh, I love the close ups coz they focus on Edward’s lipsticked- lips and contact-lensed eyes! LOL!

And when they are in Port Angeles he says to Bella’s friends ” I’m sorry I kept Bella from dinner. We just ran into each other and got talking.” Jessica says something…and then ” I think I should make sure Bella gets something to eat…If you like…I’ll drive you home myself..” waah! Kilig!

And when he drives Bella to school for the first time and he looks all smug having her there by his side for everyone to see. He looks so hot  in those sunglasses! He goes: ” I’m breaking all the rules now anyway…since I’m going to hell…” Then he puts an arm around her…OMG! Kilig to the max! I think that is my favorite scene of all.

And when they dance to Claire de Lune in Edward’s room…I think that’s really sweet.I like how he takes her hand hesitantly, carefully , and she looks so unsure and scared! hehehe…

And…how can I not love the kissing scene? I could almost imagine myself as Bella for that scene only! LOL! They kiss hesitantly at first then both of them get passionate, then he stops! lol! How can someone endure that kind of torture?! hehehe.

Sigh.

I also read one book in the series (doesn’t matter which) during weekends. Every weekend. Every single weekend. It doesn’t matter that I’ve read it a million times already. I’m just not done with it yet! I wonder how long my obsession will last? It’s almost embarassing!!

Robert likes Edward Cullen

Edward is a great fictional character. Broody, intense, “and very moral” according to Bella. hehe. Even Robert Pattinson admires him!

“I like the fact that he’s sort of a hero character that so violently denies that he’s in any way a hero at any point.

“Even when he does heroic acts. I think he’s really quite nice. He’s very humble.”

I think they’re both alike in that aspect (they’re humble). Don’t you agree?;)

Breaking Dawn won’t be made into a film? Whyyyyy?!

December 3rd, 2008 § 18 Comments

Breaking Dawn is the 4th book of the Twilight series, and it is my favorite one! It’s the book that really  takes a LOT OF RISKS!! (Eclipse is my next fave) But LA Times reports today that there is a possiblity why it WON’T be adapted to film! GAAAHH!

I know the story has lots and lots of complications, what with Jacob ( DON’T READ THE NEXT LINES IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS!) growing to 6 feet, 5 inches, looking older than he really is (Taylor Lautner is just 16 in real life I think) and having Bella and Edward finally married with a half vampire half human kid no less! (no more love triangle there), and an entire army of vampires called the Volturi bent on wiping out the Cullens…but cmon, this is the most ACTION PACKED book in the series! That’s why I love it! It’s brutal at times, and sweeping but esentially, the love story is still there!

But the worst reason of all is : Robert Pattinson has only signed on for a TRILOGY. Meaning, if they decide to make the 4th book into a movie, he won’t be in it?! THAT IS SO UNFAIR! *sob*

The rest of the LA Times article lists the ten reasons why Breaking dawn won’t be made into a film:

[MAJOR SPOILERS ABOUND!!]

1.Bella and Edward get married by Page 49.

–> I’m glad the Jacob-Bella-Edward triangle finally gets the axe! At first, I was so kilig at the idea of two guys fight over a girl, but then it got old real fast. It’s obvious Edward and bella are MFEO!Granted, Edward did HURT Bella in the second book, by leaving her, but if Bella can forgive him, why can’t we?!

2. After three books’ worth of buildup, Bella and Edward finally have sex — but we get a fade to black?

—> I kinda agree with number 2. I would LOVE to see the love scene between Edward and Bella ! How   “wild ” will that be? HAHAHAHA!

3. Then Bella gets pregnant.

–> with a half vampire- half human child!

4. Edward goes from being the man of every girl’s dreams to a man in need…
…of some guts, some personality, something that doesn’t read pathetic. Throughout “Breaking Dawn” he’s guilt-ridden over his love for Bella, even more so than in the other books. That’s admittedly difficult to believe, but true.

While Bella is bedridden, trying to keep alive the half-human, half-vampire baby eating its way through her belly, we get this choice scene in which a desperate Edward begs Jacob to offer Bella the latter’s baby-making services. (I guess half-werewolf, half-human babies are safer?) If you’d blocked that moment, here it is:

“I don’t care about anything but keeping her alive,” he said, suddenly focused now. “If it’s a child she wants, she can have it. She can have half a dozen babies. Anything she wants.” He paused for one beat. “She can have puppies if that’s what it takes.”

That’s right. He said “puppies.”

5. When she gives birth, Edward rips open Bella’s stomach with his teeth to get the baby out.

6. Bella names her baby Renesmee.
A blend of Renee (the name of Bella’s mom) and Esme (the name of Edward’s). Renesmee.

How will Kristen Stewart, she who fights against dumb dialogue, deal with such a name? Will she rename the kid? How will audiences not blindly obsessed with Stephenie Meyer’s prose react to hearing it? It just can’t happen. But the name’s the least of it after…

–> I hate the name Renesmee. I can’t even pronounce it right! Stephenie Meyer  should have given her a beautiful name instead.

7.Jacob falls in love with her.
Yes, Jacob imprints on newborn Renesmee. Meyer introduced the concept of imprinting, in which werewolves become tied to their true loves through some sort of love-at-first-sight kismet, in her earlier books. But it’s even creepier when Jacob goes from his mad obsession with Bella to one over her daughter. Her half-vampire daughter.

–>I was so weirded out when I read this part! At first Jacob falls in love with Bella, then in the end he falls in love with Bella’s DAUGHTER?! Ewww….

8. Meanwhile, Bella’s transformation into a vampire requires no effort on her part at all.
Other humans that get turned? It’s tough. They want bona fide human blood and lots of it. Bella? She’s cool to snack on deer. She doesn’t have the urge to accidentally chomp down on her human dad. And she’s quicker, faster and stronger than all the Cullen men. There’s no struggle to get what she wants.

–> yeah, she’s SUPER VAMPIRE BELLA! Even better than Almost perfect vampire Edward?! jeez. I predicted a special power in Bella right from the start, but in the book she doesn’t struggle that much with being a vampire…How convenient for her. That part kinda sucked. I would’ve wanted her to flail along for a while before getting reign on her ability.

9. When it looks like things are heating up between the Cullens and the big bad ruling vamps, the Volturi, over the existence of Renesmee — the Volturi want her dead — the Cullens gather friends, they strategize, they train for war. And it all ends…

…not when Bella, and her special protective power, save the day –- she doesn’t! — but when little Alice reappears with a tale of another half-human, half-vampire named Nahuel living happily abroad. Nahuel’s not harmful at all, she explains, so there’s no need to fight.

Wait, what…

10. Did I say war? I meant peaceful gathering in the forest.

–>> Yeah, I guess a peaceful gathering of vampires is so unbelievable. I wanted to see some serious ACTION! Vampires biting each other! Werewolves biting vamps and vice versa! I almost jumped out of my chair when I read that scene where Bella is instructing Jacob to take away Renesmee  because I really *hoped* it would be difficult , like maybe Bella might die or get hurt? But no… it had to be peaceful.

Oh well, I still loved it.

Edward cullen again? (My thoughts on why girls love him.)

Seriously, I’m beginning to think that my little blog of nonsense is starting to become a fan site! I’ve been posting entry after entry of material that only I find interesting…or a  number of Rob Pattinson fans would want to know..but I haven’t posted anything NEW really. I’m just amassing stuff as I go along. I haven’t slowed down on this obsession of mine, and it’s quite disturbing. I was prepared to be so fixated for a couple of days, but it’s already Tuesday as I write this, the 2nd of December, and the movie came out what–almost a week ago–and I’m still gushing about Edward cullen! He’s not even a real person!

I’m so glad to know, after watching all those interviews with Rob, that he tried to make his character a little different than the one in the book. Meaning , he didn’t try to play it EXACTLY like Edward is. I think if I saw him doing all those chivalrous stuff, like in an over the top way, I’d be completely turned off. In the book he comes off as someone who speaks in a tone of an era gone past- that would be too weird for me too. I’m sure if he was like that all the time, people would start to notice that he’s more than just a little “different”. haha!

I wonder why teenage girls think he’s the perfect man. Coz I don’t think he is. He’s incredibly flawed. He’s too insecure for somebody immortal and gorgeous and intelligent. He can’t even get close to people really, coz he always has the urge to kill them, if he’s not careful. The Cullen family is strange in the sense that, they are too human-like. They are “vegetarians” so to speak. They live on animal blood as opposed to their normal preference of human blood. They curb every “normal” urge they have in order to blend in the human world. Edward especially, is somebody with “super-human” control. He’s like the Superman of vampires. The fastest runner, the most gifted ( he can read minds)…then again he’s so righteous , so disciplined, so …moral..that he’s become the ultimate doofus in the preconceived vampire world. They’re predators for crying out loud! Edward says it best when he tells Bella  that …

[From the book:]

“I’m the world’s best predator, aren’t I? Everything about me invites you in — my voice, my face, even my smell. As if I need any of that!” Unexpectedly, he was on his feet, bounding away, instantly out of sight, only to appear beneath the same tree as before, having circled the meadow in half a second.

“As if you could outrun me,” he laughed bitterly.

He reached up with one hand and, with a deafening crack, effortlessly ripped a two-foot-thick branch from the trunk of the spruce. He balanced it in that hand for a moment, and then threw it with blinding speed, shattering it against another huge tree, which shook and trembled at the blow. And he was in front of me again, standing two feet away, still as a stone.

“As if you could fight me off,” he said gently.

Man! If a guy said that to me, I’d probably be running away screaming! And he’s also a stalker, mind I remind you all! He goes into Bella’s room to WATCH HER SLEEP, he FOLLOWS her where ever she goes and other creepy stuff like that. I mean, sure, it was convenient that he was there when Bella was attacked in the first book–but if you think about it , in normal circumstances, that is WAAAAAAAAAAYYY weird!

But even though I think he is incredibly flawed..I still LOVE Edward Cullen, and by transferance, I Love Robert Pattinson too! haha! It doesn’t hurt that he’s gorgeous, and I think he’s funny, and talented. You see people, I am always attracted to people who have such intense PASSION for their craft, their art or whatever you call it! And Robert looks so intense in his role as Cullen. And in his next movies, from what I’ve seen, I think he’s put a lot of thought and feeling into it. And that to me, is a true actor. It’s not about looking pretty on screen. Sure, it has worked for a lot (?) of other guys to just look pretty..but what happens what that fades? You gotta have talent! So that’s what I admire most about people like him. The Skill, the talent, the intensity , the passion that they have. Coz I think I have so little of those traits. :(   I’m a “talent whore” so to speak. haha! That’s why I love intense people!

Anyhow, enough with my monologue. To make it easier for everyone who doesn’t understand, here’s the top reasons why girls all over are falling head over heels for this guy EDWARD ANTHONY MASEN CULLEN. :-p

normal guy would say: “I Love You..”
But Edward would say: “You are my life now…”

As you leave the house…

normal guy: “Bye, see you..”
Edward: “Hurry back to me..”

when you are far away…

normal guy: “I miss you..”
Edward: “It’s like you’ve taken half myself with you…”

If you die…

normal guy would find another..
Edward would kill himself because life without you is a life not worth living…

* The last one is very Romeo and Juliet-esque and it’s kinda creepy, but hey, some people get off on that! haha! But I admit, it is a romantic notion. Nothing I would suggest to anyone, but still… sigh…

Edward’s hot car

December 1st, 2008 § Leave a Comment

In the book, the Cullen’s only “vice” is speed. That is, they love driving fast, and collecting really cool cars. :-D Edward drives a Volvo S60 for everyday use. hehe. BUT he also own an Aston Martin Vanquish–which, after Googling it , coz I don’t know anything about cars–looks absolutely HOT!Even the name of the car sounds hot!!

The Aston Martin Vanquish

The Aston Martin Vanquish

That’s a wower! I love that car! :-D

Where Am I?
